Equipment Available for Student Use
Equipment is available to support student and faculty projects. Email admins if you want access to any of this equipment or to discuss what you might need for your project.

These are aging servers, but in general they work fine. Since they are SPARC and RISC, you can't just look at the CPU's rated speed and declare them old and slow. In practice they seem similar to some of the Dell Intel servers we have that are a couple of years old. They are easy to open, easy to work on, and well laid out internally. These were the servers that powered the Internet, some of the most popular servers ever made.
We're running Debian stable (etch) on these.
If you felt masochistic, you could run Solaris just fine on these. Yuck.
We are working automating loading these across the network.
